Today has been a day of good work. The men spent the day laying tile in the upstairs addition and the women spent the day painting a concrete block wall. It was a great day today to be doing work for The Lord. Amen?
Terri gave the devotion this morning. She told the story of a four year old child's visit with Jesus.
That story is posted on this blog separately and I encourage you to take about 15 minutes to read Bella's testimony.
I could spend time telling you about the work that we did today, but I have something more important to share, aside from Bella's story. (And please forgive, me for not posting photos yet, i'm still trying to figure out how to do that on an iPad).
Let me just ask you, have you ever had your toes stepped on in a different language? We had a special speaker tonight in church who helped me see some things about myself that I need to work on. Maybe you'll feel the same way once you see where I'm coming from.
Quite often we look around at our lives, the things we are not happy with or about, and we say "this is wrong" or "that is wrong....", I hate my job, my kids drive me crazy, or my spouse makes me angry. We give a lot of thought to how we can change other people, or change our circumstances because something on the outside is wrong. We feel defeated and broken, angry and sick. But how often do we look to the inside for an answer? God wants to work on our problems, but often our problems must be addressed from the inside, out. We need to work on our hearts and our minds, get deep into the word of God and hear what He wants us to know, become what He wants us to become,, live the way He wants us to live. Then, and only then, will the outside "stuff" that we so often blame for our unhappiness, begin to change.. If we spend time working on our own lives, and allow God to work in and through us, everything else around us will begin to heal and get better. We are children of God. That is our birth right, thanks to His son, who died for us. Once we claim that right, that gift, the devil looses his job. So I say this to you now...it's your choice. You can allow the devil to get in your way of changing your inside. Or, you can claim and build your relationship with God, and change how you see everything else.
This trip helps to rejuvinate my soul and i look forward to it every year. But, I should not be waiting until January to fill my heart with God. I choose to work on that every day. To pray, talk, worship and share ...... That's my choice. What's yours?
Scripture references for today:
