Sunny Costa Rica

We just can't seem to leave on this trip without God blessing us with His sense of humor.  We arrived at the airport in plenty of time to catch our first flight of the day, thanks to Lewis, who so graciously got up early to drive us from Nashville to Raleigh.  But, and here's where the sense of humor comes in, we sat on the Tarmac for 30 minutes while the plane was de-iced.  Yeah for us, and another adventure begins!  Our connecting flight in Houston was close, but we made it and we are here, safe and sound, in sunny Costa Rica.  Thank you all for your prayers for our safe travels.

If I understand our project plans so far, we will be laying tile, painting, and helping to do some repair work on one of the community member's home.  We should have plenty to do while we are here.

When we arrived at church today, we were welcomed with many hugs, kisses, and well wishes.  It seemed that our friends here were genuinely happy to see us, and of course we are equally happy to b here.

After lunch, Reid gave our first devotion.  He talked about how we do what we do with a loving heart, how we are to love our neighbors as we love ourselves, and how we should put other's needs above our own.  He talked about how we all may have different reasons for coming on this trip, and he challenged us to focus on what we will now refer to as our "Love project" rather than our "work project".  He reminded us that we are well loved here in this small community in Costa Rica, and how we are well loved by our Father.
Scripture references for today are:
John 13:34
Luke 10:25-29
Romans 12:10

Our friend Scott Dodson was not able to join us this year due to a case of  pneumonia.  Since his doctor advised him not to travel, he is listening and trying to get better.  We want you to know that we miss you already and are praying for you.

Also, we are missing Patrick and Ashley Marks.  We know you are getting ready for the arrival of your new baby, and we miss you too.  You too are in our prayers.
