The Holy Spirit

You may not believe this... but we sure worked today.  I would say we were very productive and we

have been super blessed.

We all felt the pains of travel last night so we turned in early... I mean about 8:30pm early.  Felt like we were putting the young'uns to bed....but we sure needed it.  Up at 2am to leave home by 3am to fly out of RDU at 6am... made for a very long day.

But today.... we got up early, somewhat refreshed and ready for what the day would bring.  Reid provided us with the day's devotion.  We were blessed by a reminder, and maybe a different perspective, on paying attention to what the Holy Spirit means to us.  Often, we acknowledge that we have been led by the Holy Spirit to do this...to go there.... or to say that......  Occasionally, we act too hastily and possibly miss what the Holy Spirit is really saying to us, or wants from us.  Maybe... just maybe.... we sometimes need to hold off....and wait.  Wait to really hear all of what the Spirit is saying to us before we take action.  You've heard it before... and I'll say it again.....sometimes we need to just stop and listen.   You all do know that the thing inside of you that nags at you when you're about to miss an opportunity to reach out to someone is the Holy Spirit, don't you?  You do know that thing that bugs you to pick up the phone and call someone you haven't spoken to in a while is the Holy Spirit, don't you?  You know that the thing we call our conscience is the Holy Spirit, living in us....speaking to us.... moving us into, or away from action....don't you?  If you don't know or have a comfortable understanding of who the Holy Spirit is, or if you do and want to find out more, pick up your bible....reach out to other believers, seek out a group you feel comfortable with and talk.  God wants us to be together, He desires for us to get to know Him and to have the gift of, and the fruit of the Spirit.  My prayer for you today is that you are able to think back through your day and find ways that the Spirit has blessed you, today.

The spirit has certainly blessed us today.  The day has been productive and it almost feels like we were here just a month ago and we're picking up right where we left off.  There is more painting to be done and the ceiling tiles we installed last year need repairing.  We also learned today that the engineer has not prepared the plans for the handicap ramp we thought we'd be building, so we probably won't be able to get those plans and the permits in time to start that project (yes, hard to believe we need a permit... but we do!).  But, we think maybe God has a different plan for us.  One of the members of this church, and a long time and only full time employee of the church (other than the pastor) has just built a handicap appropriate house for his family.  The house needs to be painted so the family can move in.  Looks like we may have that project to focus on next week.  The pastor is very excited for us to be able to help this family, and we are excited to be able to reach out in this way as well.  I'll post photos of that when we get started.

I can hear music in the sanctuary so I will close with a few photos from today.  This morning, some of the ladies went to the market to pick up a few items.  The men worked on the ceiling tiles and plans for another project that we'll begin next week.  The ladies cleared out debris around the wall where a fresh paint job will be added next week.  All in all.....today was busy and amazing.  Oh, and the most memorable part of today was the monkey that was hanging out in a tree right here on the property.  We were sitting around the table at the end of the work day eating fresh pineapple when the monkey decided to come down from the tree.  He walked out of the gate and across the road.... very interesting.... maybe he'll visit again soon.

God bless you all.  Please pray for our team and the work we are doing.  Dios te bendiga!
