Lessons from Noah's Ark

Buenos Dias! I hope everyone back home is enjoying the "warm" weather.  It's in the low 90's here, and pretty wind.  And when the wind blows....so does the sand and dirt.

Kay provided us with a wonderful devotion based on the lessons we can all take from the story of Noah's ark.  Genesis 9:17 says, "so God said to Noah, "this is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on earth."  He was speaking of the rainbow.  It is a constant reminder of the promise that God made to us that the floods will never destroy the earth again.

When God called Noah, he listened and did as he was instructed.  Listen, it took quite a long time for the floods to come after God told Noah to build the ark.  The lesson in this is that we need to plan ahead and to not miss the boat, remember, it wasn't raining when Noah built the ark.  Other lessons we can learn from Noah's experience are; 1) stay fit - when you're 60 God can still call you to do something really big 2) build your future on high grounds - don't listen to critics who say you can't do something, 3) for safety sake, travel in pairs - a prayer partner is always a good idea, 4) when you are stressed, float a while, and 5) remember, the Ark was built by amateurs, not professionals - God equips the called, he does not necessarily call the equipped.
Every time you see a rainbow, think of His promise and remember these lessons.

Today, our group split up.  Remember Rigo, the guy who works here at the church?  Well, four of us went to Rigo's house to paint and the other four remained at the church to continue with our projects here.  Because Rigo has a handicapped son, his family qualified for a government grant to build a handicap sufficient home.  Rigo's son, Samuel (pronounced Sam-wel), has cerebral palsy and requires full time care.  The home they have been living in does not meet his needs, and now they will be able to care for him in a new, wide open space.  All that was left to do before the family could move in was to paint.  It was a blessing for our team to be able to give back to a man who has dedicated his life to God and to serving this church.  the paint crew is almost finished (with the exception of some trim work) and hope to complete the job tomorrow.

There was some framework added to the concrete slab for the new storage building, and more sheet rock was installed for the stairwell.  We're moving right along and hope to complete at least one of these projects by the end of the day Friday.  Here are some photos of our day......   We love you all and want to say special prayers for our families and friends.
