Our adventures did not end with the work in Costa Rica folks. The trip home was an adventure in itself. It was one of those 'hurry up and wait' days. They require you to be at the airport in Costa Rica more than an hour prior to departure... and that means checked through ticketing, baggage check, exit taxes, and security. Then you wait. In Atlanta, we had to claim all of our baggage, go through customs, and recheck that baggage... then wait. Once we boarded in Atlanta for our flight home...(in record time according to the Delta agents), we sat in the plane, on the tarmac, for 2 1/2 hours before taking off. The left engine would not start, so engineers had to come out and check it. Once they found out that the starter wasn't working, we had to wait for mechanics to replace it. You can imagine our stress and concern. The pilot even had the nerve to 'promise' us that we would arrive in Raleigh/Durham safely, which some of us found a little arrogant, but God sure has a sense of humor and must have known that we had something else to do before we got home. We all had a few laughs and were able to strike up conversations with our seatmates, and everyone on the plane seemed to be handling the delay pretty well. After we got underway the flight was pretty smooth and took about 50 minutes. Things had not gone wrong enough, so when we landed and got close to the terminal, the pilot informed us that we couldn't pull in yet because there was no one on the ground to guide him in. It took only a few minutes for the people to show up so we got in pretty quickly. Baggage claim went well, we had family members to meet us at the airport, so that was a welcome surprise, and the rest of our families were waiting for us when we arrived back in good ole Nashville, NC.
The trip was fantastic, God led and protected us, and the Holy Spirit was alive in us in all we did. I think I can speak for the entire team when I say thank you for your support and love through out this experience, and we are looking forward to continuing God's work at home and in Costa Rica.
Blessings to you all.
Great job Terri, the blog master! God is soooo...good all the time!
