A blessed day

I'm not even sure I can do justice to this day, but here goes.

Ashley gave today's devotion.  She talked about hope and peace and calming the frenzy of our lives.  We all experience chaos from time to time, and when we are all here, we have time to reflect on the craziness that is our lives, and we have time to be calm.  Sometimes, we just need to find a place, call it your 'happy place' if you will, and be still..... Romans 15:13 says "Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in him, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit".  When we are filled with hope we can find peace in our hectic lives.

After breakfast, we had the privilege of visit Rigo and his family once more.  They moved into their new home the day we finished painting.  They were so very happy and proud, as well they should be. They were gracious to allow us all in to look around and to take a few photos.   Rigo also shared some of Samuel's story from the last few months.  Sees Samuel was having problems with his intestines and had to spend a month in the hospital.  Since he has been out of the hospital and back home (4 months), he has had a feeding tube.  He is able to eat some normally, but mostly eats through the tube.  Samuel will never be able to walk and cannot speak.  He communicates with his eyes, some sounds and his mother is very familiar with his needs.  There were a lot of tears during our visit because of the pain this sweet child is in, the care he requires, the lack of resources the family has, and the power of their faith in God.

After our visit with Rigo, Yocanda, Samuel and Rigo Jr., we took off for a day at the beach.  We actually were able to spend time on two different beaches today because they were within 3 miles of each other.  We took a new friend with to share the day, and we just had a wonderful time together.  We made homemade guacamole and pico de gallo to take with us, and of course, fresh pineapple for shacks.  We had supper at a very neat restaurant on the beach and are now back, ready for bed.  Tomorrow we will attend our last church service for this trip, ad we'll be heading home on Monday.

Please keep us all in your prayers.  We miss our families and friends, but are blessed that we have a very special family here as well.  We love you and will see you soon.  Oh, and by the way.....not to rub it in or anything... but yes, we did get some swim time in today.  Swimming in the ocean January...  not too bad.
