Dear God, most of the time we believe what we can actually see. We say it all of the time..... "I'll believe that when I see it". But God, even though we cannot physically see You, help us to be believers. Help us to recognize You in our lives, even when we cannot touch or lay our eyes on a physical form. Help us to see the miracles only You can perform, and to know them for what they are.....gifts from You. We pray everything in your Son's holy name, Amen.
Damian had the morning devotion. He read the story of Thomas in John 20:24-29. We are not unlike Thomas in that it is easier to believe in what we can see. Oh, but how much stronger our faith to believe in a God that we cannot see or touch. Faith..... faith is believing what we cannot see. But really, can't we see God? Don't we really see Him everywhere we look? If you can look at a sweet baby's face and NOT see God.... I think maybe you don't really know God. If you can see a majestic ocean or a beautiful field of flowers and NOT see our Lord.... maybe you don't get it. God is everywhere. God made heaven and earth, and all that is upon it. We really can see Him... we just have to know Him to realize that He is there.
We finished the painting in every room, and we finished the ceiling. We had expected to do other work in addition to the paint and ceiling.. but it was not to happen. It was a long week and we got a lot done and we are exhausted.
We had a special service in church tonight. A well known, news anchor, came to sing and give his testimony. After that the group was honored by the church. It was expecially moving to look out into the congregation and see so many loving, smiling faces. We have been so very blessed by our time here.
We only have one more day and that day will be spent having a little fun. We'll be home soon and we hope to bring some of what we have experienced back to our families and our churches. We thank you again for all of your support and your love.
Tonight, we leave you with this from John..... Chapter 20 vs 29 says: "Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
Praise be to God.
Praying for a safe return trip home for you all! <3
